Cat urine does more than smell bad. It is chemically stubborn: a mix of urea, ammonia and volatile sulfur compounds, part of it acidic and part of it basic.
Why doesn't pet odor go away with the usual methods?
Perfumed room sprays lay a scent over the odor while the molecule stays where it is. A few hours later the smell is back on the surface.
Each animal brings its own chemistry. On a dog's coat, sebum and its breakdown by bacteria produce aldehydes and ammonia. In a bird cage, urea and volatile compounds build up into a harsh mix in the air around the bird. For the difference between covering and removing, see room spray or odor eliminator.
How does ODORGO Pet work?
The formula works in a pH band from slightly acidic to around neutral. That lets it target acidic odor molecules (sulfur compounds, aldehydes) and basic ones (ammonia, amines) at the same time, in three stages.
- Adsorption. Positively charged droplets of plant oil attract negatively charged odor molecules through Van der Waals forces. The molecule leaves the textile fiber or the air and sticks to the surface of the droplet.
- Chemical reaction. In this pH band a chain of four reactions for acidic odors, or three for basic ones, turns the molecule into a salt or free sulfur. Sulfur odors are neutralized within seconds, the other odor compounds within minutes.
- Biodegradation. What remains are natural salts and weak acids. They break down biologically in nature and do not build up in the air.
The mechanism was examined in a series of doctoral theses at Delaware State University (1997, 1999 and 2001), and a peer-reviewed paper from 2014 (Zhang, Hurd, Wilkinson) analyzes the reaction kinetics. The longer version is in the technical documentation post.
Where and how do you use it?
| Scenario | Application |
|---|---|
| Cat urine on carpet or sofa | Blot the spot with a dry cloth, spray ODORGO Pet, let it dry, then wipe lightly. |
| Dog bed | Spray the surface of the bed generously and let it air. |
| Litter box | One or two sprays a day over the litter; it does not affect how the litter absorbs. |
| Bird cage | Take the bird out, spray around the outside of the cage, air the room, then put the bird back. |
| Pet shop or boarding kennel | Nebulizing for the air of the aisles, spray for the surfaces. |
For a fresh urine spot the order matters:
- Blot up the liquid with a dry cloth. Do not rub it in.
- Shake ODORGO Pet Odor Eliminator Spray 250 ml well and spray the spot.
- Let it dry, then wipe lightly. Repeat if needed.
The spray is water-based; you can use it on any surface that water does not harm. On water-sensitive fabrics and surfaces (unfinished or untreated wood, silk, leather, electronics, etc.), test on a small hidden area first.
For the air around a litter box or a pet bed, ODORGO Pet Odor Eliminator Gel 250 g stands flat and still on a shelf nearby and keeps working with the lid open, up to 30 days in small, enclosed spaces. There are separate guides for dog and cat urine odor and for cat litter odor.
What is in the formula?
The active ingredients are five plant-derived essential oils: pine needle, anise, clove, cedarwood and lime. Their blend is a trade secret. The carrier is reverse osmosis water, with food-grade polysorbate and sorbitan emulsifiers. In the Safety Data Sheet, prepared in the KKDIK format (Turkey's chemicals regulation), the mixture is not classified as hazardous, and the label carries no hazard (H) statement. It can be used in homes with children and pets.
The fragrance-free, phthalate-free, paraben-free, dye-free, sulfate-free, and alcohol-free claims are verified by tests conducted at laboratories accredited by TÜRKAK (Turkish Accreditation Agency) and ILAC (International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation). The product is vegan and is not tested on animals. Don't expect a lasting scent after spraying; ODORGO Pet is made to take bad odor away, not to leave a new one behind.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get cat urine odor out for good?
Blot the spot, spray ODORGO Pet, let it dry and wipe lightly. The formula acts on urea, ammonia and sulfur compounds at the same time instead of covering them.
Is ODORGO Pet vegan and cruelty-free?
Yes. The active ingredients are five plant-derived oils, the carrier is reverse osmosis water, and the emulsifiers are food-grade polysorbate and sorbitan. It is not tested on animals.
Can cats and dogs come into contact with ODORGO?
Yes, it can be used in homes with pets. In the Safety Data Sheet the mixture is not classified as hazardous, and the label carries no hazard (H) statement.
Does it affect how cat litter absorbs?
No. ODORGO Pet targets the odor molecule and does not change the physical structure of the litter.
Is there a professional pack for pet shops and vets?
Yes. Refill and professional pack sizes exist for aisle air and bulk surface use; ask for them through the contact page.
