How do you get cigarette smell out of a house?

Smoke odour sits on surfaces rather than in the air, which is why opening a window alone never fixes it. Work in this order: wash all textiles you can (curtains, cushion covers, throws), wipe hard surfaces and walls with a damp cloth, then treat the sofa, carpet and curtains you cannot wash with ODORGO spray. Finally place a gel in the room; over the following days it binds the odour molecules that textiles slowly release, which is what normally makes the smell return.

Why does the smoke smell come back after cleaning?

Smoke particles settle deep into fabric fibres. A surface treatment only reaches the top layer, and when humidity or temperature rises the odour held underneath is released again. Repeating the application after two or three days, and keeping a gel working in the room, breaks that cycle.
