The bottle says it “eliminates odor.” Anyone who has studied chemistry reacts to that with a question: how?
It is a fair one. Most products on the shelf do not remove an odor; they add a second smell on top of it. To see the difference, start with what an odor is.
What is an odor?
An odor is matter. It is a set of volatile molecules that break away from a source, mix into the air and are noticed once they reach the nose.
The ones that bother people most at home fall into a few families. The sharp smell of urine and of the toilet comes from ammonia. Onion, garlic and spoiled food give off sulfur compounds. Fish smell comes from amines. Cigarette smoke and frying vapor leave something different: a greasy, mixed film that sticks to surfaces.
These molecules do not stay hanging in the air. They settle into the curtain, the carpet and the sofa and are released from there little by little. That is why the smell drops when you open the window and returns when you close it.
Why doesn't a room spray end the odor?
It never touches the odor molecule. It puts a stronger perfume into the air, and for a while the nose picks up that one. The perfume evaporates and the molecule underneath is still in place. When the two smells mix, the result is often a third, heavier one.
The everyday side of this is covered in room spray or odor eliminator.
How does ODORGO remove odor in three stages?
- It attracts. When the spray is used or the lid of the gel is opened, the plant-derived oils mix into the air and meet the odor molecule.
- It binds. The oil holds the odor molecule. The molecule no longer moves freely and does not reach the nose.
- It converts. The bound molecule turns into a compound with no smell. No new perfume appears in its place.
A bound molecule does not give off odor again. If the source is still there, though, a full trash can or a dirty litter box, new odor keeps forming. An odor eliminator does not replace cleaning; it takes the odor that is left after you clean.
How is an odor eliminator different from a room spray?
| Room spray | ODORGO | |
|---|---|---|
| What does it do? | Adds perfume on top of the odor | Binds the odor molecule and converts it into a compound with no smell |
| Does it contain fragrance? | Yes | No |
| What do you smell when you spray? | Perfume that lingers | A light plant scent that fades quickly |
| What is the carrier? | Often alcohol and propellant gas | Water |
| On fabric | The perfume stays in the fabric | Leaves no scent behind once dry |
Where does the technology come from?
It is rooted in research at Delaware State University in the USA. That work looks at how plant-derived oils bind odor molecules. For the wider picture, read what ODORGO is; if you want to know why some odors resist, see why stubborn odors don't go away.
The spray and the gel show up to 98% odor elimination effectiveness.
What is in the formula, and what is not?
It is a water-based formula built on five plant-derived essential oils: pine needle, anise, clove, cedarwood and lime. The ratio of the oils is kept as a trade secret. The fragrance-free, phthalate-free, paraben-free, dye-free, sulfate-free, and alcohol-free claims are verified by tests conducted at laboratories accredited by TÜRKAK (Turkish Accreditation Agency) and ILAC (International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation). The manufacturer declares that no toxins or harsh chemicals are used in the formula. The spray and the gel are vegan.
Which product is used where?
- ODORGO Odor Eliminator Spray 250 ml: Shake the bottle well, then spray into the air or onto the surface that smells. Repeat if needed.
- ODORGO Odor Eliminator Gel 250 g: Open the lid and leave it standing flat and still. It needs no power and no batteries, and it is used for up to 30 days in enclosed areas of up to 15 m²; longer in smaller spaces such as drawers and cabinets.
- ODORGO Multi-Purpose Odor Eliminator Liquid 500 ml: Used together with detergent. One capful in the detergent drawer of the washing machine, or 15 mL per 1 liter of water for surface cleaning.
The spray is water-based; you can use it on any surface that water does not harm. On water-sensitive fabrics and surfaces (unfinished or untreated wood, silk, leather, electronics, etc.), test on a small hidden area first.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does ODORGO mask odor?
No. It is fragrance-free; the plant-derived oils attract the odor molecule, hold it and turn it into a compound that has no smell.
Does the odor come back?
A bound molecule does not give off odor again. If the source is still there, new odor forms; clean the source first, then repeat the application.
Which odors is it used for?
Pet urine, toilet, trash, damp, cigarette smoke and cooking smells are where it is used most.
Can it be used in a home with pets and children?
Yes, it can be used in homes with children and pets. Follow the usage warnings on the label.
Does a scent stay in the room after spraying?
No. You notice a light plant scent, and it fades quickly.
What is the difference between the gel and the spray?
The spray is applied to the air or a surface at that moment. The gel works on its own where it stands flat and still, for up to 30 days in enclosed areas of up to 15 m²; longer in smaller spaces such as drawers and cabinets.
