ODORGO is a plant-based odor neutralization technology produced, marketed and distributed in Turkey by Trigonium İlaç A.Ş. This page explains what is in it, how it works and the research behind it.
Is ODORGO a perfume or a reaction?
A reaction. The active formula is made of five plant-derived essential oils: pine needle, anise, clove, cedarwood and lime (coded ODORGO-A1 to ODORGO-A5), plus reverse osmosis water and a food-grade polysorbate/sorbitan emulsifier. The reaction partners are protected under international trade secret legislation.
A conventional room spray adds perfume on top of the odor, and the odor molecule stays where it was. ODORGO reacts chemically with the odor molecule and neutralizes it. The two approaches are compared on the masking vs. neutralization page and in room spray or odor eliminator: which one works.
How does the 3-stage molecular mechanism work?
- Adsorption: the positively charged plant oil droplet captures the negatively charged odor molecule through Van der Waals attraction.
- Chemical reaction: in a pH band from mildly acidic to near neutral, four consecutive mechanisms for acidic odors and three for basic odors convert the molecule into salts or free sulfur.
- Biodegradation: the reaction products biodegrade in nature and do not build up in the air.
A step-by-step version is on the how ODORGO works page; the sources are listed in the ODORGO technical documentation.

What do the safety documents and certifications cover?
- Safety Data Sheet (SDS): prepared in Turkish in the KKDİK format; the mixture is not classified as hazardous.
- Vegan: plant-based, with no animal testing.
- International inventory compliance: TSCA (USA), EINECS (EU), DSL (Canada), AICS (Australia).
The documents themselves are on the certificates page.
How is the formula protected?
The active technology of ODORGO is protected as a trade secret, and the details of the formula are not made public. The technical details of the license and formulation agreements made with our international partners fall under the same protection.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is ODORGO and who makes it?
ODORGO is a plant-based odor neutralization technology produced in Turkey by Trigonium İlaç A.Ş. It uses a proprietary formula that rests on more than 30 years of independent academic research.
How does ODORGO work?
Through a three-stage molecular mechanism. In adsorption, the positive plant oil droplet attracts the negative odor molecule; in the chemical reaction, acidic and basic odors are converted in a mildly acidic to near-neutral pH band; in biodegradation, the reaction products break down in nature.
Is it vegan and free of animal testing?
Yes. The active ingredients are five plant-derived oils, reverse osmosis water and food-grade polysorbate/sorbitan, and no animal testing is carried out.
Where can I get the Safety Data Sheet?
Request it from Trigonium İlaç A.Ş. The SDS Rev. 06.2024 version complies with EC 1907/2006 Article 31 (REACH).
Which scientific evidence is it based on?
The Delaware State University doctoral theses of 1997, 1999 and 2001 (Wilkinson), the 1996 paper of the American Foundrymen's Society, the research of the German Foundry Institute (VDG), and the 2014 peer-reviewed publication (Zhang, Hurd, Wilkinson: Control of Malodors).
Why is the formula not made public?
The ODORGO formula is protected as a trade secret, so its details are not disclosed.
